When I decided to become a full time freelance Makeup Artist back in 2009 I had three big dream goals…

  • To work with a Global Cosmetics Brand
  • To work at New York Fashion Week
  • To have my work published in a book by a Global Publishing House.

The fact that I can now say I worked as the Official Makeup Artist & Brand Ambassador of Maybelline New York Kenya between 2015-2017. I worked 41 shows through 6 seasons at New York Fashion Week between 2016-2022 and now thanks to Phaidon Press, a premier global publisher of books on the visual and creative arts, my work has been published in a book called Blush along side 75 incredible Makeup Artists from around the world. To be the first Kenyan Makeup Artist to achieve all these things has my heart full of gratitude.

Blush is the very first global survey to celebrate the most exciting Makeup Artists working today all of whom were nominated by a panel of industry experts, including editors, stylists, photographers, and art directors.

To see my name beside artists I admire like Danessa Myricks, Sir John, Sheika Daley, Lauren Parsons, Nikki Wolf, Charlotte Tilbury, Val Garland, Lisa Eldridge and many more is beyond a dream come true I’m so grateful, THANK YOU Phaidon Press.

I had no idea how any of my dreams would become a reality especially when I made these goals as a 25 year old single mother barely making ends meet after leaving the security of a corporate job to chase dreams that no one understood. My hope is to inspire anyone who is in a difficult season trying to make their dreams come true, keep showing up for yourself! Give it your best and trust that whatever you’re passionate about can turn your dreams into your reality.
